Silurian research interests focus on taxonomy, biostratigraphy, faunal dynamics, palaeobiogeography and palaeoenvironmental distribution of graptoloid graptolites. Current projects deal with Llandovery graptoloid faunas and biostratigraphy of North Africa (mainly Libya) with D. Massa, Barrandian area and Hlinsko area of Bohemia (Czech Republic) with P. Kraft, Sardinia (Italy) with E. Serpagli, and Montagne Noire (France) with R. Feist. Former studies on Early Silurian graptolites of Spain (with J.C. Gutiérrez-Marco and D. Loydell) will hopefully continue. Early Ludlow graptolites and biostratigraphy of the western part of the Barrandian area are studied in collaboration with S. Piras. Graptolite biostratigraphy also provides more or less remote support to several projects on geochemistry and palaeomagnetism. Further improvements of the existing integrated conodont-graptolite biostratigraphy are searched in collaboration with E. Serpagli. Recently, Silurian sea-level and sequence stratigraphic signals in the offshore, largely black-shale depositional settings have got in my focus.
